Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I thought you snagged a copy of that one long ago? Anyway, yes that is the AutoCar book you want. There's also a hardcover version of it, but I have not seen one of those offered since forever ago.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Here's images of the hardbound version from Ebay. Not sure if it was something McLaren had put together, or if AutoCar sold them at some point.

I think I've only ever seen two of them come through Ebay, so there can not be that many of them out there. I don't have one, but I don't really need one. I am pretty certain I have two copies of the softcover version. One with the issue of AutoCar magazine it came with in the plastic jacket, and one by itself.

Cool then - definitely worth the small price you usually have to pay for it. Of course it stops telling the story right around the point when production began, and there's so much more to talk about. Still - very well put together.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Well unless I have misplaced them, it would seem that I only have the 1995 LeMans annual, so I guess I have some shopping to do. Rats!

There's also a copy of the Michael Cotton "GTR" book on Ebay right now that I would really like to own.

Hi Greg,
I am lucky to have all the books mentioned in this post ,apart from the new Mclaren cars one.
Two others i have which feature the GTR are
GT International-mark cole , which is like an a to z of all gt cars from about 1994 to 1998.About 6 pages with gtr in.
The second is Blue& Orange by Michael Cotton, signed by Derek Bell. It's a great book about history of gulf sponsership in racing.25 plus pages with 95,96,97 gtr;s featured.Similar to Le-mans books, but with different pictues.

I have heard about the Gulf book, and didn't know how much F1-related content would be in there; I may have to have a look now you have said there is around 25 pages worth . I've just ordered it off Amazon too

I don't think I have heard of the other one - GT international. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it

Nice library of Mclaren books you have there then!

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I have the "GT-International" book already. I will throw up a shot of the cover later on.

I still need "Blue & Orange" as well. I missed getting a copy that had been signed by some noteworthy drivers, and Michael Cotton, on Ebay once and then never went looking for another.

Poster on PH.com has this and was wondering if it's worth anything. Bit dog eared mind. No connection.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

Would you say this book is in the top 3 of books to get? I am tempted, but it's going for a lot of money.....Is it nearly as good as Michael Cottons' GTR?
