Possible Transmission Issues

I drive a 91 Silverado, v6, standard transmission.
While I was driving my truck seemed to slip out of gear and wouldn't go back in. About 10 seconds later it shut off. I was able to ride the momentum and pull over. It tries to start when I'm turning the key, but nothing. I've ruled out the distributor and the battery. All I can think now is: transmission. I'm hoping for something a little less vague though =/ . Any ideas?
I've had problems with my distributor rotor from time to time, but no real indication that my transmission was having troubles.

stalling could be the transmission clutch throw out worn and damaged . any manual that pops out of gear will need removal and inspection.

the engine checking for proper operation should be an easy task.. the distributor should be replaced if original along with the ICM....also the plug wires need to be removed and inspected for damage and resistance.

There has been shifting issues from time to time, so I could see that as a possibility. Generally not being able to shift into first or reverse without force (no grinding, just resistance). Roughly once a week, shortly after a cold start.

what fluid do you have in that manual tranny ?? should be GM sychromesh gear oil.

the dexron III will work but it is not good for the yellow metal bushings and does make shifting much harder....

with not starting engine run start with basics fuel/spark ...no spark distributor/coil/power to coil ...fuel issues check the pressure /fuel filter/voltage to the fuel pump...
