I just found your post. I had a new 1969 Datsun 2000 which I raced in slalom and hillclimbs as well as back and forth to work. My next car was a Porsche 911 which was slow in comparison. My 2000 had minor mods to timing and intake (plus a roll bar). My polution control airpump functioned as a hidden supercharger. I used 7800 rpm for a shift point in racing. At 7000 rpm in 4th it would be exactly 140mph and leave rubber hitting 5th lifting the front tires off the ground. I only did that once. No steering at that speed is not something desired. I made one 500 mile run at an average of 135mph, but melted the pressure plate. Only car I know of that will get 34 mpg averaging 120mph. Can you still get parts for a 2000? Where was that Datsun meet? I would love to find a good one stock to modify once more.
