1994 Signature Series Town Car with transmission issue

94 model with 64k miles. Recently the car started to randomly shift from OD to 3 and back again. No rumble strip feeling. No engine light. OD light doesn't flash. Just shifts that feel normal, but way too many of them, and only happens at random intervals.

The MLPS is working as it should, and is aligned properly. The TPS ( FILPS ) checks as a textbook example.

The only issue that I found was an alarming amount of ATF saturating the solenoid pack plug, and the harness plug.

Now, in my mind this leak is likely caused by a seal or O ring that has perished, randomly allowing fluid pressure to fluctuate, causing the intermittent random shifts.

It's possible that the ATF leak you discovered is related to the intermittent shifting problem. If the fluid is saturating the solenoid pack plug and the harness plug, it may be causing intermittent electrical issues or affecting the solenoid pack's operation.
