Dealership Fees Added to Lease BuyOut Amount: Ripped Off?
Hi all,
Newbie here, don't know a thing about cars. My 2018 Nissan Rogue lease is up soon. I was planning on doing a lease buyout, but the dealership is tacking on a $1,400 dealership fee, non-negotiable. Is this fairly standard, or am I getting ripped off?? The dealership is in Long Island, NY, for what it's worth. Payoff quote I received from Nissan Finance was $14,966. Was shocked when actual payoff amount came to $18,500. I expected sales tax, the $300 purchase option fee, and maybe a few miscellaneous charges, but most certainly was not expecting $1,400 in dealership fees. Any insight would be appreciated. |

What's the terms on your lease? If the dealership fee is not in your terms then you may have an argument. If the wording is vague then you have not have a leg to stand on.

Stealthee is right; but also look at your original paperwork.. you might have already paid the dealership and delivery fees at lease signing; when you took possession..

Thank you both for your input. Not only was the wording in the lease contract vague, but the contract I had in hand was incomplete.
At the end of the day, I bought out the lease from another dealership (I thought it had to be done with the original dealership) that didn't charge ANY fee. |

This is some of the the typical crap thst goes on with lease deals. Never accept any incomplete lease contracts, get a clear understanding of all the add on fees up front.

Quote:
I live in NC my daughter tried turning her car into another Jeep dealer. He gave her the $1500. BS also. Her husband called the bank got a payoff amount and paid it off. They sent him the title and registered it himself. Looking back it wasn’t a manufacturers finance but a local bank. |
