Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

all good shops should be able to fabricate a custom box for you, consider 'em suspect if they can't

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

O.K. if I were to coat the box with some kind of truck bed liner (because I want to keep it protected from whatever I put in the bed of the truck because its replacing the mid-gate) would it interfere with sound quality or over heating problems?

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

coating the outside would just make the box stiffer which is a good thing

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

depends on what the final load you want it to be ...... which depends on the amp you buy

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

Would the Hifonics Brutus Bxi 2006D (at about 2000 watts) work with the dual 2 OHM?

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

duel 4 would be better for that amp so you can get a 1 ohm

If you want to go with the dual 2ohm subs, just use the 1606D

ohms is how we measure resistance to current. a 2 ohm load is less resistive than a 4 ohm load so given the same amount of current, you can get
more power (watts) out of an amp connected to a sub with 2ohms of resistance than you can get from an amp connected to a sub with 4ohms of resistance.

with (3) dual 2ohm subs your total resistance (impedence) depending on how you wire your subs will be either 12 ohms or 1.33 ohms (1606D is a close match)
if you double the resistance of your subs with the dual 4ohm versions, then your total impedance will also double to either a 24 or 2.66 ohm load (2006D can work with this)

Re: Can someone that knows alot about bass help

ok I get it. So why would you want to get a dual 2 OHM over a dual 4 OHM? Is there like any advantages to either?
