1981 280zx
My 1981 280zx turbo has had the mass air flow sensor , plugs , plug wires , had the fuel injectors cleaned and had the turbo replaced, and when I punch it , it still sputters and pops , sometimes it does it during normal driving also...I can't seem to find a mechanic that can figure it out....I would appreciate any fresh ideas ..I really enjoy this car , but this tends to take the fun out of driving it...thanks

Check the fuel pressure. When was the fuel filter last replaced? Check engine light on? Any codes?

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Is the egr functioning properly? When it pops is it in the intake or exhaust?

Re: 1981 280zx
It's from the intake....it acts like its not getting any gas , then it will just seem to catch and it will go fine, but when I punch it against will pop and sputter again. It is very frustrating and getting expensive as I am not a mechanic and have to pay everytime I try something..

Yes, it's frustrating and expensive but when you fix it it will be worth the trouble. I would check the fuel pressure next, that might show a problem with the fuel delivery.
