No reason to appologize for questions. You can go to 3si.org to get all the lowdown that are looking for.

I personally like the VR4 better (hence why I bought it). They are pretty reliable. However, if you beat the crap out of it, its going to break and the replacement parts are expensive. The transmission is the weekest link in the car if you start dropping the clutch at 4000+ rpms and can cost an arm and a leg to replace. (3K+) The 60K and 120K tune-ups will run you about a thousand dollars unless you can do the work yourself.

I've had mine since 94 with 90K miles and have had no problems at all. Its been great and I have never regretted buying this car.

VR4's ROCK!

Which styling do you like better?? I would get the Mitsubishi (looks better, more 'exotic' than a dodge)
A seriously quick car.

Question

I just bought a Stillen intake for my '99 3000GT SL and was thinking about installing it myself. Is this something I should get profesionally done?

I've never done more than an oil change on a car, but would like to be able to say that I'm the one who's done most of the mods on my car. Still, I want the best for my car so if its something that could easily be skrewed up, I'd rather just take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

If it looks easy enough, try it your self. If it requires something you are unsure of (precise measurents, welding, whcih isn't likely, or whatever) then have a pro do it.

Tell u sexactly what it involves, so we can me more helpful. (like is it just a new airfilter, or completely new thing-a-ma-bobs. can't think of a real thing right now.):o

The Stillen intake is very easy to install. The hardest part you'd encounter would be getting the screws loosened, unless you let them rust on your 99, I'd say you won't have any problems.

BTW, just want to make sure you know of the www.3si.org site. Basically your home site for 3000GT & Stealth cars.

Actually I decided to go with the HKS intake instead (on recommendation from a tuning shop, plus it matches the yellow detail on my engine), and have found some local "car guys" that are helping me with it since it requires complete replacement of the stock air box.

I have another question: I have heard that there is a way to make a custom ram-air intake for the N/A turbo cars. Anybody know anything about this?

BTW - I visit the 3si site occasionally but don't usually find alot of info on the cars themselves, just stuff about events. Cool site anyway though!

You cant have a normally aspirated car with turbos. And any car can have a custom ram-air, it just depends on what it will look like and cost)

Elite3kGT - there is tons of information there on the cars, you just need to do a search or ask a question. There are some extremely knowledgable people there. One of the members put this page together www.3si.org/member-home/jlucius/ and its just loaded with information.
