Thinking of joining the BMW Crowed

I have been seriously thinking of Picking up a 92 3-series, I love the body style of the 92 but Like the option of the 88-91 325IX (awd)

Now I Know they never made a 325IX in 92-99 but would it be possible to put the AWD system in a 92+ ?

Second I would like to transplant a M5 Engine in the 92+ body... can this be done ? is it cost effective ? Is it worth it ?

I am one who cannot leave well enough alone I must tweek. I love the Idea of a badged 323i with a M5 engine and AWD in black with some nice rims... and I living in a fantacy world or should I sell my first born to do this or is this accuatualy possible on a somewhat tight budget (under 25K CND)

thanks

The cost will be astronomical, considering you have to change ALOT, not only the engine but also your transmission and the lot, even the exhaust (which u will do anyway for performance).

We haven't talked about increasing the brake size so its proportional to the power output, etc.

But yea I wouldn't do it, if you really want an M5 then get an M5, don't buy a 3 series and do the transplant. Just my 2 cents.
