Replace rear bumper cover
Anyone ever replace their rear bumper cover? I found a new one for $100 and figured I would do it myself. I backed into my basketball pole and put a nice pucker in the plastic (this after my wife backed into a concrete pillar in a parking garage and crunched the other side a month ago)
Looking for any advice. Thanks. |

I haven't done this but if I were I'd look at the new one to learn how it's fastened on. Remove fasteners until it drops to the ground. Put the new one on. Dan |

Re: Re: Replace rear bumper cover
I've removed and replaced the rear bumper cover on my 2000 Windstar LX 3.8 several times as part of some trailer wiring upgrades.
The cover is easy to remove: There are about 6 screws across the top of the cover, near where the liftgate closes. There are about 2 screws inside each wheel well. There are about 4 plastic clips underneath the cover; I believe they pop out (I'm working from memory). I believe there's a slot molded on the inside of the cover on each side, near the taillights. Just make sure you're aligned with the bracket that fits into the slot (again, working from memory - but it wasn't difficult). |
