Rear brakes locked up
Hi all,
I don't work on cars much (which may become apparent soon), but I try sometimes. Anyway, I replaced calipers, pads, rotors, and rubber hoses on the front (hoses because one wouldn't bleed). The brakes were locked up and, after a little research, I replaced the master cylinder (bench bled it first), but it didn't change anything. Then I found that it was only the back brakes that were locked. Both back tires will not move an inch. I can bleed the lines. I can see the parking brake cable move about four or five inches when I have my son engage it and release. I can't get the rear drums off, though, because the brakes are engaged. Any ideas? |

Re: Rear brakes locked up
a ten pound sledge hammer beating the hell out of them is what I had to do to get my back ones off my '02 when they were locked up. i couldn't get any movement out of the adjuster wheels. tore up most of the hardware doing it, but after 15 years and the salt belt, i'd be going with new anyway.

Re: Rear brakes locked up
I hope it doesn't come to that, 65Comet, but I'll keep the sledge handy just in case.
