Passenger side fuel line shield? On all cars? Needed?
What's the purpose of this piece? On the GTRA there were originally two fuel lines (one for the return) and the main electrical cables. Now that I'm redoing the car I have no need to put the return line back in place (carb) and the main electrical cables are being run inside the cabin down the passenger side like the GTSs. At this point do I need this entire piece? Is it a debris shield or a heat shield or both? Can I Just put some wire loom or other protectant on the fuel line and forgo installing this shield?
Thanks, Brian

Do you have anything protecting the fuel line? Here's the response I got from Panoz today.

yes, mine has a sheath/cover running the whole length. it looks like an insulation material you would find on an HVAC copper tube.

Ohhh... good idea. Better than what I had in mind and easy to get at the hardware store. This stuff?

Brian, I have 2 x 3" exhausts running into the cavity on the RH side between the chassis and the NASCAR intrusion bars. The whole cavity is stuffed full of mufflers and bloody hot pipes. I have just used the Panoz fuel line wrap and added some additional heat shield material between the pipes/mufflers and fuel line and it has been fine so far. Kel.
