another keyless entry issue
My wife 1998 Honda CRV keyless entry pad has been permanently damage and unusable. Never got a back up pad when we purchase our CRV either. I’m wondering what options do I have. Do I switch to an aftermarket or deal with the Honda dealer to provide a new set of keyless pads and programming fees? Can some one give a an clarification as to what would be my best affordable option here. Feel free to comment, Gratz!

Re: another keyless entry issue
If you are referring to the keychain remote transmitter, I bought one off the Internet for $35 and programmed it myself by following the instructions that came with it. It is a genuine Honda remote, not aftermarket.

Thanks JR
That sounds like a deal. Wanna share the 411, like to check it out this web page. How many keyless pads can you purchase? I like to have two. Laloquera |

I think this is the site where I bought mine. I guess you can buy as many as you want there. Our CR-V came with only one, so I wanted another. |

Re: another keyless entry issue
CR-V remote notes:
You can program up to 4 max. The LX is also ready for remotes, not just the EX model. Most dealers would have tried to sell the "whole system" - but the LX, EX, and SE models already have the receivers installed. The keyless entry receiver is in the factory radio....so if you swap out your radio for an aftermarket unit like Sony, Pioneer, etc...you will lose your keyless entry receiver.

Re: another keyless entry issue
Thanx for the info. on the radio. Would that be true for my 1992 Honda Accord?

Re: another keyless entry issue
Technically the Accord didn't have factory keyless entry until the 1997 SE model, and than standard on the EX from 1998 to present.
Honda did have a dealer installed system for the 1994-1997 models, I don't believe there was one at all on the previous Accords unless it was an aftermarket type system.
