P0451 Check Engine Light 2012 Mazda 5
2012 Mazda 5 has 42,000 miles.
Today it got a check engine light. I checked the code with my scanner and got P0451 Have been smelling a strange fuel smell when we first start it. From the article link in the next paragraph: "In some cases, there may be a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors". http://repairpal.com/OBD-II-Code-P0451 Lots of info here. Almost too much. I erased the code & drove it. It came back & went away on its own for a couple of weeks. Now it seems to be back constantly. Anybody have these symptoms? The Fix Took it to the dealership. Here's what they did. 1. Replaced the fuel tank pressure sensor. (This may have been done as a Technical Service Bulletin as they did not itemize or charge for it.) 2. Changed evaporation hose CG36-42-580A 3. Changed short cord L5E1-18-791A I did not watch any of this maintenance so have no handy hints. Last edited by glenninspects; 12-01-2016 at 01:04 PM. Reason: Passing Fix Info |
