Subaru WRX STI Group N - 1999 - Studio 27/Fujimi 1/24
The Subaru WRX STI is my favourite car. I've owned 2 of them, a 2004 (1st model year in North America) and a 2015 (1st model year of current gen). I'm also very proud to have worked at Subaru Canada as a web developer.
My favourite body style however is the original gen, version V. I think the proportions are perfect. The scoop, wing (it's just not an STI without one), lights, and bumpers (best fog light covers ever) compliment the simple lines of the car. It rides the fine line of sleeper and crazy over-the-top just right. The Winfield livery of Michael Guest is also one of my favourites. As sacrilege as it may be, the red/gold combo is almost as great as the blue/gold of the WRC car. The kit is the Studio 27 resin body mated to a Fujimi chassis and Studio 27 decals. Much of the interior was mix & match. I was fortunate to find one of those early Quicktime 360 VR files for references. - left-hand drive dashboard conversion - paint is Testors Sunburst enamel - wheel originated from a set of Hasegawa Toyota Celica rims - seat belts from Eduard - door panels from Tamiya Lancer Evo - 3D printed tail-lights Robert Check out more of my models, 3d, and other portfolio pieces: robpaperscissors.com |

Love it; absolutely stunning! I agree the Winfield livery looks great, and this era Impreza is about the best. I did not know that there was a resin version of the body, and I assume you used the Fujimi 2-door Impreza as a base? Either way, it is a great model.

That's a great replica of the original!
I don't want to be a nit-picker, but the Aussie flags should be on the right side of the names, not the left side.

Yes, Fujimi 2 door Type R as the donor base. The S27 kit leaves a lot to be desired but the body is superior and decals fit perfectly. It might be the only 4 door Type RA made of the version V.
I didn't notice the flags on the wrong side until after I applied them. I debated posting the reference photo since the eagle-eyed would probably spot it There's a few other mistakes too. The "T" logo on the MoviStar number plates shouldn't be there. And I had to guess where the Dunlop logos went on the back. The biggest one is I used the supplied Pirelli's from the Fujimi kit when this car surely rode on Dunlops. I may fix all this at a later date but I'm pretty sure all my other models have small mistakes too. |
