Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: Jaguar XJR-9LM - Progress
This thing is getting bigger and more impressive with each update Rob! I guess you didn't get it finished for the State Titles? No big deal the important deadline is still quite a way off

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: Jaguar XJR-9LM - Progress
I didn't look at this one before simply because I am not a Jaguar fan, but the work is fantastic. I may even like Jaguar after this one is done. Keep it up, realy nice work.

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: Jaguar XJR-9LM - Progress
here are some more updates:
Firstly in answer to a few questions - kt100 the Silk Cut decals were included in this kit. I bought this from a mate with the SMS photo-etch kit for $30 AU -BARGAIN. Phil, I used the SMS photo-etch kit which has a part for the intake box? The trumpets I turned myself. The sensors on the exhaust were simply 3 pieces of photo-etch sprue that I cut to equal lengths then glued together to look like brackets. Looks pretty good though. BRM, for the silver lines I rolled a file over some solder of the correct thickness and it looks like braided line. Gainsbourg, I cut the panels out with Hasegawa modelling saw scriber set. Here is the link from HLJ http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?HSGTP-4 The saws easily cut around small bends and leaves a perfect finish. I use these for adding depth to panel lines as well. I've used a few extra sheets of Carbon fibre decal now and still going. The brake ducting is completed as well as the radiator etc. For the used look on the tyres, after putting the Dunlop decals on, I sprayed the sidewall with flat clear then rolled a black chalk pastel around the edge. It gives a nice scuffed look? Now the hard part - painting the kit?

Sensational. All the work at the front looks great. Are you going to open up just the one door?

Yes I'm planning on just opening the drivers door. I still haven't figured out how to hinge it because it swings in an arc rather than just having a straight pivot. I might try to turn some sort of ball assembly to help with the rotation. Then again.....

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: Jaguar XJR-9LM - Progress
No update photo's just a list of things to do.
Finishing the cooling ducts and hoses in the engine bay. The No. 2 car had an additional vent for the radiator on the right side of the car. This isn't in the Tamiya kit so I've got to make one. I think I may give up on the hinge for the drivers door and leave it open. Besides these are meant to be static models aren't they? I don't know whether I should paint the two tone white / lavender or use the kit supplied decals? Any suggestions from someone who has built this kit? All I'm really concerned about is the colour match between TS-37 and the decal. My prefered option is to use the decals. Also, I'm looking for some reference photo's of the underside of the body panels to determine whether it should be painted a Matt Black or use Carbon decals? Hopefully I'll have some more update photos by the end of the week. Thanks
