Porsche 911 SCRS
Corrrado did an excellent build of this car based on the Tamiya kit. Scale Production also did a body trans-kit based on the Tamiya. I'm trying the conversion using the Fujimi kit so I can build it with an engine.
Combined parts of the '76 and '85 Turbo wings to create the SCRS.

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Hi JC,
It is great to see you start this epic model as well! I don't know the Fujimi kit myself but I guess, with the given engine detail you will make a superb build of it! I sent you a message in private. |

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Corrado's build was great. I'll still need a bit of shaping on the notch but for the most part I am happy with the wing.
Appears there was some wing variation during the SCRS's competition career.

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Colours that belong in motorsport...how can you go wrong with a Porsche build. Looking forward to the next update.

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
If you build a Rothmans SC RS, the sole variations were in the colour of the wing's grille. The shape was always the same. I have studied tons of pictures over the years. The other famous rally SC RS were belgian ones : they wore cigarette liveries too, Belga and Bastos, and had different wings (2 different types for the Belga following it was 1984 or 1985 season, the RS 3.0L type for the Bastos).

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Hello JC and Chris, I shot some top-view photos of my SCRS rear wing with measures, maybe it can be useful. The Rothmans SCRS had few variants but only in color, the grill was white or black and the outer, soft edge had the white/black variations as well. JC, for the Belga/Bastos version, you have to look for Droogmans' or Snijers' Porsche and it loos like it either had the above black edge/white grill version or the one with the small rear grill, you have on the middle one (as seen on the photo with the flaming Porsche) or some photos shows the "ducktale" (last two photos). I am not a Porsche expert, might be wrong though...

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Thank you for the additional photos Attila and the measurements. I'll adjust the shape of the notch in the outer wing.
Paolo not aware of decals available for the Bastos or Belga SCRS. Belga decals are available for other cars, they might work on the Porsche.

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Hi Corrado, these pictures summarize well the specificities of the belgian Porsches. Btw, the last 2 pictures do not represent an SC RS but an SC group 4 (hence the duck tail) during Snijers' last appearance (and win) in 1983 (Rallye du Condroz, I was there !)
The Belga Porsche in 1984 (like depicted on the photo above) share the same wing as the Rothmans one but in 1985 RAS Sport the tuner made a mix of this wing and the hood from a stock Turbo 3.3L : Rothmans, Belga and Bastos decals were available at one time at Renaissance models. Don't know if it's still the case ? |

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Thanks chris24 for the photos and information. The'85 wing looks easy to accomplish.

Re: Porsche 911 SCRS
Old liveries were so much better than new ones.
