Re: MP4-12C racing
Today the 12C GT3 was again in Spa for the British GT
Free practice 1: 2nd in 2.23.637 Free practice 2: 6th in 2.24.305 Qualifying 1 : 1st in 2.23.479 Qualifying 2 : 8th in 2.24.898 Andrew Kirkaldy words: “Although we have covered around 4500km in testing this is the first time we have had any opportunity to go up against any other cars, so before today it was something of an unknown quantity. We are very pleased with the way things have gone: the McLaren is reasonably on the pace straight out of the box, it feels great to drive and technically everything has gone as planned.” Last edited by Davidoff41; 07-08-2011 at 12:41 PM. |

Re: MP4-12C racing
In the race 1 the 12C GT3 finish 12.
Goodwin start in 1st position and was leading the first part of the race (the 10 first lap), then during the pit stop, the car stay 20 secondes more than other cars, to check and repaire things after a contact with another car. Kirkaldy came back on the track in 12 position and it will stay like that till the end. Best lap for the 12C GT3 is in 2.26.463 (2.24.845 for the fastest car / Ferrari 458) The 12C arrive 1.24.460 after the winner (Porsche Trackspeed) Race 2, the 12C GT3 finish 4 at 24.020 from first place (Ferrari 458) With a best lap in 2.25.936 (2.24.822 for the fastest car / Ferrari 458) Last edited by Davidoff41; 07-09-2011 at 07:59 AM. |

Re: MP4-12C racing
Few words to tell that last week McLaren was back in Navarra for a 30 hours test. Pilotes were officaly Kirkaldy, Goodwin, Turvey and Parente, but it looks that Adam Christodoulou and Glynn Geddie was also there with 3 other pilote. For now it's still a secret as the way how the car was on that test.
But we are able to see that, to prepare the night in Spa, they add 2 big light on the bonnet. And definitly, they 12C-GT3 looks more and more like 01R in Le Mans 1995, with that n°59 and light on the bonnet. See you tomorrow for Official news from Spa. bye |

Re: MP4-12C racing
Just back home from an exciting 4 days weekend at Spa.
I had good and bad times at, and with the McLarens boys; training, qualifying, race, lot of discussions etc. But the big drama's also: I made the pics of the first real BIG crash with the #59 (which is prototype chassis 2). When all pics are converted and I do have the time, you 'll see them. And off course, McLaren owns them already, the same hour at the media center The whole story and pics soon. |

Re: MP4-12C racing
Hi, the two following links are my report from 24 hours of Spa 2011.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/emka41/sets/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGhMf0U_KMQ After that race, my personal opinion is that the car is not ready yet. McLaren still have big work before getting first places... A little list of problems which they meet: Oil system failure (fire on RP01) Gearbox need a bigger setup (001 was blocked on 3rd gear during the night) And the good point is that the car is going weel, even with many kilogrammes (i saw a lest of 7kgs ; but looks like they had more. Impossible to know) Regards |
