Starter??

Yesterday, when i went to start my car, It made a loud sound like a fork in a garbage disposal, i turned the key off, and retried it and it started up fine, and i havent had that problem again, Is it the starter possibly going out? I used to have a 1985 ford bronco and when the starter went out on it it didnt even make a sound... Does anybody know what the sound couldve been?

Re: Starter??

Sounds like the teeth were grinding similarly to when you try and turn the starter over when the car is running. I'd go with the fact that it somehow didn't connect to the flywheel teeth properly and started spinning early causing it to grind for whatever reason.
