'84 Ram van problems
Just got an '84 Dodge Ram van cheap, it has 60K original miles, 318, automatic. Very similar to the Tradesman I drove to Alaska several years ago. My hope is to restore to sound mechanical condition. It has a few problems...
When I put in reverse, the engine immediately dies. The rear floor is rusted out right above the frame rails, (but not the wheel wells). The rails are garvanized steel, and seem to be in fairly good condition. Can I just cut out those rusty sections and weld new steel in? Are the frame rails welded to the floor pan? Any help greatly appreciated! JT |
