Very nice masking for the red. Which red did you use?

Thank you Steve, the red is TS86 with a bit of TS8 airbrushed. Looks quite bright on the photos but in real it is darker.

How are you going to do the black border lines on the red? They are very thin on the decals.

Re: Juha Kankkunen Toyota Celica Twincam Turbo Beemax

Hello Kaj45, I plan tocut the thin sripes off the decal and glue it on the edge of the red. It is not going to be an easy job but that is my only option

Re: Juha Kankkunen Toyota Celica Twincam Turbo Beemax

Looks pretty dirty but that was my intention, to give a real Safari Rally look. Still needs few things like intercom, copilot light, drinking bottles, door switches etc...
Thin black stripes were cut off from the original red decal and glued on. I also put thinner black outlines around the fake side outlets, than clearcoted.

Re: Juha Kankkunen Toyota Celica Twincam Turbo Beemax

Well, after a long pause on the Toyota, I managed to do some progress. After decalling, I hollowed the blinker's reflector and drilled the triangular holes on the side of the headlights. By the way, don't forget to fill the front numberplate recess, since it did't exist on the real car - I only noticed after painting and decalling...

I got a copy of the ancient Sakatsu wheels which looks much better in my opinion. Although they are 1mm bigger in diameter, they still look fine to me. The holes on the rim are more accentuated and the tyre pattern follows the original single row style on the narrow front wheel. I changed the center wheelnut area to the original Beemax, as it looks better.

I put some more visible weld lines on the front bullbar and made a new base for the extra light.

I also reprinted the rallyplates and numberplates to better match the originals. Thanks Petteri!

Than the scary part begun, I started to weather the car. I used different pignents, mixed with water and a drop of liquid soap. It is very fragile but the advantage is that you can experiment with it as much as you wish.
I still need to partially clean it and spray the final weathering, also based on pigments. I am still experimenting how to seal the pigments though...
