Smile cabin air filter in 2014 equinox

i am going to remove and replace our engine air filter at 24000 miles. This looks like a very simple operation.

I was planning to do the same with the cabin air filter until I discovered that i need to REMOVE THE GLOVE BOX in order to access the existing filter.

My question is: what are the possible reprecusions of not replacing the cabin air filter?

Thanks for any information, comments and help
