Exhaust valves in the new Vantage 2006 AM?

Hi guys,
I have ordered the new Vantage and I'l be getting mine in late March. I read this in article just a minute ago:

"And then there’s the noise. Oh my God. What a soundtrack. From inside, all is quiet and serene. At normal speed, when the European Union testing people are listening, all is quiet and serene.
But put your foot down and a little VALVE in the exhaust system changes everything. Under full-bore acceleration, this car doesn’t rumble or howl. It sounds like all the most exciting bits of the Bible. It sounds like Revelation. And it’s just so loud. When my wife went for a spin on a balmy summer’s evening, I heard her change from fourth to fifth
a full two miles away. A Porsche may well have the power and agility to get past, but stuck in the sonic boom from those exhausts, I suspect the German car would probably disintegrate before it ever got the chance. The way it sounds is a good enough reason to buy the Vantage"

This is what Clarksson from TOP GEAR said, so a pretty good veridct sound wise that is.

So every page on the internet keeps talking about these "VALVES" opening and giving a kick as sound, and as soon as they are closed, the car goes quiet, (under 4000 rpm according to most pages I've found).

So the question is:
Is there any way I can have these VALVES open at all time? I want that crazy ass sound always! Not only over 4000 rpm, so is this possible without hurting the cars performance?

Thank you in advance

Talk to a dealer about it.

The new aluminum Corvette Z06 has exhaust valves that open up over 3,500 or when full throttle is applied. People have pulled a fuse from the new Z06 to allow the butterfly valves on the inner pipes to never close.

Re: Exhaust valves in the new Vantage 2006 AM?

So you thnkg there might be a chance there is a fuse on The Vantage as well, how could I check this myself, our Swedish dealership doesn't want us to do anything with our astons, they told that I couldn't put on the db9 wheels on the vantage, because they would't fit, called down to friend in Germany and told him to try it, works perfect. And they are sure not going to let me know about the fuse tingie, wierd delaership, but that's there point of view, but if I look in the instruction manual do you think it will say FUSE eg 23 = Valve vacuum hoose bypass whatever you called it...?

Thanks

There might be something in the owners manual.

Performance exhausts will likely be made for the new V8 Vantage.

Fuse #22 will do the trick (fuse box in trunk on right side). You can also just remove the two hoses going to the valves but make sure you block them with a screw or rivet or the pump will run continuously. I should have my V8 within the next week or so and will verify whether removing the fuse is a viable and reliable way to make the exhaust louder all the time.

Does anyone know where to find a sport exhaust for the DB9? Which tuning company?

Thanks

Re: Exhaust valves in the new Vantage 2006 AM?

It's been working fine for me since I did it on my V8 almost 12 weeks ago, and also on my neighbor's DB9. There are a few other people on another Aston forum who have done it without any problems...but again, I don't guarantee it and if you are worried perhaps you should ask your dealer to do it the more permanent way.

We have adjusted exhaust bypass valves so they are open constantly on a Vanquish S, damn it sounds like a beast!. I can find out what we did for our owner if anyone is still interested.

Re: Exhaust valves in the new Vantage 2006 AM?

Are there one or two pumps that control the exhaust valves? Where are they located under the car?

Re: Exhaust valves in the new Vantage 2006 AM?

There is one vacuum pump/reservoir.

I can guide you through the process if you would like.

I do have to ask for a fee however.
