Ac compresser

i have a 2002 intrigue can i unplugg the compresser i dont have the money to rreplace it and its rattling and driveing me nuts. I need to get by for now with a quick fix its not all the time but the mech said it was the ac cmoresser the clutch isnt engaeing he used a lond screwdriver to show me if he pushed on it the noise stopped. pleae any help is there a pulley and if so where cna i get one can i get a samller belt

Is the noise there when the a/c is off? Or is the noise only there when the a/c is on?

the noise is when its on and off the mech took a long screwdriver and pushed the pully and it stopped for a few secs. If i put eh ac on its blows out hot no cold and the clitch he siad isnt kicking in

the noise is there wheni start eh car i dont use my ac at all i have the auto in it and i keep the tempo cold so it wont kick on itself

Metallic grind sound with a/c OFF means the clutch air gap needs adjusted out about .020" Very common on V-5 compressors of that era. Can be done with borrowed clutch tol from Autozone- without removing the compressor from engine-usually.
