Unhappy Ferrari up for sale!

Well, to help compensate for the losses incured by Fiat, a large chunk of Ferrari will be offered to the public. Fiat will keep a controlling interest in the company. Lets just hope that Ford (which wanted Ferrari in the 1960's), or worse, GM, don't get their hands on it. That would be a tradjedy.

On the bright side, this gives us an opportunity to REALLY buy a piece of Ferrari

shit, Ford better not buy it. I can see it happening though. But then would they stop making GT-40's? They wouldn't have to get back at Ferrari ever again. And if GM bought them... [crying] we would end up telling our kids how Ferrari's were once beautiful, exotic, respected, top of the line, hard to get, expensive, high quality, DECENT cars [/crying] I knew they were in financial trouble, but.....................

what I heard was....

I heard they are going to offer shares to the public for 40% of the company in hopes to raise 380 million dollars. This would make it very difficult for a single party to try to purchase the whole 40%. I think I'll buy a few shares.

Actually, I heard in another magazine (Which I can't seem to find and is driving me crazy!!!!), that it would be 2.5 to 4 billion (this is from my memory, and I am not at all sure, I think I am wrong, but close)

Don't know, but most places make you buy at least $500 worth or so. I wouldn't buy it, though. Really, they don't make much money, and they are at the high point in the companies history, really. It can't get much better. So I don't think it wise from a money perspective.

Fiat SpA is working on a deal to sell about 35% (I'll have to look up the actual numbers later) to an Italian bank. This bank, in turn, sold 10% to a German bank. Fiat held 90% of Ferrari before this transaction, so they still hold over half of the company. No other car company's going to step in and buy it.

If Fiat only had 90% of Ferrari before, who has the other 10%?

Good question. I don't know. But I do know that the 90% figure is/was accurate.

The remaining 10% share of could be (my assumption) still owned by the heirs of Enzo.

Makes sense. I don't know why I didn't think of that before.

ok i just had an idea but i dont think it is a good one..

instead of building the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari or whatever the name is thesee days which is like a 400,000 USD or more supercar, why dont they make a "smaller" ferrari. I mean aston martin is making that "mini" Vanquish which is selling for like 150,000 USD and is a competetor for like the Modena.

BUT

the problem with that is that, if they have a waiting list for the Ferrar Enzo Ferrari and can sell them MAKE THEM but if they dont then they are gonna have a cheap ferrari that more people can drive. And ferrari will lose their reputation for a good, fast, expensive, rare, sports car.

And i think that the decision to make a cheaper priced Aston was an idea of the greedy "who cares about the name" people @ FORD

SORRY IF THIS MADE NO SENSE

So, you are saying that Ferrari should build the F60/Enzo, because if they don't, people will think they are cheap (I hardly call 150K for a 360 cheap ) And you think Ford making the 150K Aston is a greedy way to make money. Thats more than the DB7. The new Aston should be sub-100K. And lets face it, Aston's are considered great, but not in the same league as Ferrari. (DB5 is special )
