MSD Ignition
Scratchbuilt. Mostly aluminum. A couple-few dozen parts and some wires and custom decals. Even has the shock absorbing mounts... - Mark
And a couple of secondary fuel filters. One for the normal fuel injection, one for the boost when nitrous is engaged... Aluminum and soldered brass for the bracket... |

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.
Don't put yourself or your workmanship down. That's very nice.
Your's looks like an MSD 5 or maybe a 6A box. If it has a rev limiter it's a 6AL. Mine's an overkill 7AL-2. But then NOS in a 7 is overkill too... - Mark |

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.
Remember, his is double the size, Alvin.
Still, great work! This beauty is just... wow. You're really putting every single part from the 1:1 into it, just they're all 1:12. Have you thought about getting a real Seven and making it? You're old hat at this, by now.

You're not the first to pose that question to me... I hope to be in a real one today coincidentally... Do you have anything stock in this model? Stock? Barely. A few kit parts were kept, but modified or painted and detailed at the very least. I kept the kit's rubber tires and the springs for the shocks, and the steering shaft. Oh, and the right side body panel skin... - Mark |

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.
amazingly well detailed, i have the tamiya 1/24 super seven and yours, despite being twice the size still puts my attempt at detiling to shame. keep on with this amazing level of detail and the amazing finished models.

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.
Hi Mark,
As sais a billion time before me, AMAZING! INCROYABLE! What did you do about the chassis? Did you use the kit on or did you rebuild it? Sorry if it has been asked before, but, could you post a picture of the entire car? But I guess you would prefer not to do it untill the end... As you seem to be near of the end, what will be your next project? A 1:1 seven? Could I suggest you something like the Tamiya Porsche 935 in 1/12 scale? Or an old Lotus 49 in the same scale? Anyway, thanks for sharing you work with us. Respectfully, Olivier |

Re: Blue Super Seven W.I.P.
Thanks everyone.
I did use the kit's frame, but modified it and added details. There is no entire car yet, still building, but it does look like a car now. Engine and driveline and suspension are all there, but many details for them (lots of hardware) are still being made and assembled. The next sub-projects for it that I am working on are the Weber fuel injection and the dashboard. I have been working on a real 1:1 Seven too. Not mine, but fun just the same. Yes, my next projects, at least two of them are another Caterham 7, and a Lotus 7. 1/12 and 1/24 scales respectively. I've already done a couple 1/12 Porsches, 934 and 935 and have the Lotus 49 kit, for later. I'll build the Lola T70 or MP4/6 before I do that one... Stay tuned, more pictures soon. - Mark |
