Throttle body accelerator issue
Hi guys I just screwed up my car! Need some help!!
It’s a Nissan Altima 2005 2.5L It was ok running car, only I had check engine sign due to code “P2135 Throttle/Pedal position sensor/switch A/ B Voltage Correlation”. I thought before I spend couple of hundreds on changing the entire throttle body, let me try cleaning it up. So I open the intake pipe and clean the air mass chamber and pipe, and the throttle body (without removing it). I thought it went pretty smooth. It had some decent amount of black grease which I cleaned up nicely using cotton soft cloth and “CRC 05078 Throttle Body” cleaner. here is before and after. I put everything back as it was. After I turn on the car, the accelerator is on! The effect is like somebody put a brick on the gas paddle! In the opening/cleaning process, I did open (and reconnected) the electrical connector that was connected on the air mass body/pipe. Also the thin pipe that goes from the air body/pipe to the engine. Although the engine error was most likely due to faulty sensor, but I thought I had nothing to lose, if cleaning doesn’t work, change the whole thing. But now with throttle going haywire, I can’t take it to auto store! I really appreciate any help! Thanks!! |

Re: Throttle body accelerator issue
You need to do a throttle relearn
I found a Youtube video explaining the process https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afBmfKWDWZ4

Re: Throttle body accelerator issue
ok. I gave it a go. didn't work. could be because my engine was not on the normal operating temp. when i start engine the temperature indicate low.
Am I suppose to leave the engine on in order to increase the temperature? I mean at current situation it seems pretty hazardous as the throttle/accelerator is always on. and the tachometer read 3/4! it makes loud noise. i didn't dare to keep it on for more then few seconds. also here I see little different procedure than the youtube video http://www.altimaforums.net/idle-rel...ay-t3398.html? |

Re: Throttle body accelerator issue
yes other one didn't work either. main problem is probably the engine heat. my engine heat is not on the middle while i was doing it.
also, in one place I see it says, all the error code must be cleared in order to do this. is that true? as i already had a check engine on before all this... that also might be the problem. BTW, is it safe to drive in this condition? at ideal/prk tachometer reads just under 3 and periodically jumps to 4 |

Re: Throttle body accelerator issue
ok here is the update.
I first reset the error code. check engine light went off. then i let it run for few minutes. engine heated up to middle. then i tried the process. this time i was able to follow it. the light blink and went solid as it says in the 7th step. but after i turned on again, i see the problem remain. however it did reduce the throttle at ideal. before it ideal at 2000- 3000rpm now it ideals at 1000-1800rpm. i repeat the procedure two more times no improvements. here is a video (1 MB) https://www.dropbox.com/s/w884zfr3akqsohf/Throttle.mp4 anybody with ideal relearn experience, please let me know. thanks again! |
