My Grand Prix is having problems accelerating through turns. This doesn't happen on an every time thing but im afraid to try to gun it into traffic sometimes because of this problem. Any help is much appreciated.

have you checked the transmission fluid level? make sure to check it while the car is running.

Re: 99 Grand Prix acceleration problems

I finally got the time to check this and it was low, I have added enough transmission fluid and now it is at a good level, but it did not fix the problem.

Re: 99 Grand Prix acceleration problems

Can you be more specific? Are you low on fuel when this normally happens? Does it happpen more during right or left turns? Does the engine just lack power or does it hesitate or try to stall?

Re: 99 Grand Prix acceleration problems

It happens at random times, it feels like my car is stalling, once I pick my foot off the gas pedal I can push back down on it and it sometime will take off normally but sometimes it takes a time or two to get it going fine. Could it be my torque converter?

Re: 99 Grand Prix acceleration problems

Start with a new Air filter, Fuel filter, and clean the Massive Air Flow(MAF) sensor.
You need alot of fuel, and air for horse power.

How many miles are on this car?

Which engine do you have? L36 NA SII 3800, L67 supercharged SII 3800 or 3.1L "VIN M" are your choices.

It could be a CAT converter issue.

Re: 99 Grand Prix acceleration problems

I have a L36 NA SII 3800 in my car, it only has around 115,000 miles on it, when i bought it, it only had around 101,000 miles on it. It did need some work because a granny had it any didn't give it a tune up or anything like it to my knowledge she only had the oil changed. After fixing the easy parts I have the issue where it happens a random times, when I try to gun it into traffic it stalls and I have to repress the gas pedal to get gas to the engine. Had an air filter replaced 2 months ago and it still looks pretty clean, the fuel filter was changed almost 6 months ago and I hadn't looked into the MAF yet i will check it and get back to you, thanks for the help and thanks for the future help. I hope to get this fixed soon.
