Whats the widest tire I can run?
K so I went to NTB Today to buy a new set of back tires for the Z and I fell in love with these G-Force 255 width tire's and the guy was like they can fit then he asked another guy and he said they wouldnt fit no way. But I am seriously questioned by this cause I belive they will. Anyone know for sure if they will or if I need spacers?

Re: Whats the widest tire I can run?
all depends on the offset, what end of the car they're going on, and what z you have. z32's can support up to a 9.5" front and 10.5" rear rim (that's rim size, not tire size, i'm sure the tires are anywhere from half inch to an inch wider) and i'm not sure about the z31. it all depends on offset tho, if you're running a tire much wider than stock you'll want to have it so the tire isn't sticking out much more on one side compared to the other on the front. same with the rear, but you can have a little more sticking out the outside if you want... gives it a slightly more agressive look, and you don't have to worry about rubbing the fenders as long as the car isn't lowered too far...
long story short, 255's should fit no problem

if we are talking stock N/A wheels here...i dont think your getting 255's on. my 225's on my Z32 overlap like crazy but i dont really know how those tire configuations work.
i have 225's on my stock N/A wheels and i had 275's on my 9.5" wheels...if i remember correctly the N/A's are 7.5" wide. so 255's should correspond with about a 8.5" wheel but like delerious said, its not that easy.

Yeah these are going on the Rear end of my Z32 N/A and on a stock rim. Im just keeping them stock cause im gonna powder coat black..but Yeah you had 275's?? thats f'in huge I was looking at those today its bigger than a corvette tire. How could you fit a 275 and I cant even fit a 255...

Re: Whats the widest tire I can run?
he used to have 19"s on there.. they were, as he said, 9.5" wide (not stock) so that's why he could have such a wider tire on the rim. as for you, it wouldn't be wise to go past 235-245 on the stock rim.

what if i got spacers? could I then? Cause I really dont like the 235 the 245 I could live with its just they had some Goodyear G-Force's 255 for 91.00 each. and thats the only width they had that price in.

Re: Whats the widest tire I can run?
spacers have nothing to do with it... it's the width of the rim compared to the width of the tire... you can only go so much wider before you start to have problems with sidewall strength

yeah, the only thing spacers do is, in a sense, change the offset of the wheels. when sizing tires, it has nothing to do with space, the only reference you need is what the overall circumference is of the stock vehicle (this keeps your speedo accurate) and the size of the wheel.
im telling you, once you get a decent size tire on there it will look wider than you think...my 225's looks like a hefty piece of tire when you look at it from the front or back. and the overlap makes it look even more aggressive. i could only imagine what 235 or 245's would look like. 255's wont do you an ounce of good when you go to take a corner and that sidewall crinkles on you...that wouldnt not be good.

Re: Whats the widest tire I can run?
widest tire depends on your rim size. heres a little chart I live by.
7.5 rim - tire size= 215-225 (you can push to 235 not recomended) 8.5 rim- tire size= 235-255 9.5 - tire size= 265-285 10.5 - tire size= 295-325 And the largest rim tire size I have seen on the street has been a 11.5 rim, 345 tire size. but that was on a Ford GT, and on the Aston Martin DB9.
