Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
Time to fix the front windshield and the rear trasparent. I would like to finish all teh external part and then concentrate only about the interior (oh well..do not exclude to wait to see the real car again in action here in Monza...we will see).
From the toy windshield I had to cut away both the 2 ugly wipers moulded over it.

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
I've been a silent follower of this build.
But now I just want to say brilliant. Really impressive stuff you're showing here. I'm already looking forward to what you're going to do with the interior. |

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
Rear wing finished.
Note I was going to use CF decal also on this, sure I've made a mistake doing roof in CF and front lower wing painted in semigloss black. A firend of mine (the same guy helping me in infos over the 430 of the other thread) works on the real car, and advise this wing is done in fiberglass and wood, then painted in semigloss black. It is correct only the roof is carbon fiber (as standard optional from M3e92 serie) So I removed the CF decal and repaint it in satin black . The lateral sides are done in wood. ....we always think modern composite materials are used all over in these cars, while they use as in the past every light material they found around.

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
working on the internal roll cage.
I studied the pics of the real car cockpit to do it, and used nearly an entire package of tamiya clear rods of 2mm. The inner original die cast moulding parts are a real pain in this build, cause sometinmes they are a problem while fitting parts. Finally the roll cage fits the body, unfortunately when done not so much of this work will be visible, also cause the side windows are small, and all is painted metallic blue also here inside.

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
good news!
the next weeks I should be at the N racing looking at the real one under maintenance before the beginning of the 2010 season. Finally I will have the right documentation for the cockpit (till now I made it looking at the pics i've found around). ...stay tuned...

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
I finally got my pics of the interior part of the BMW directly from Nracing guys, they are very helpful and they also follow my thread here.
The roll cage I made from pictures is nearly ok,just a minor part in the back of the pilot's seat is different, but I think I will leave it as it is now, also cause when the model will be closed all that internal part will not be so much visible from outside (lower back of the seat). I am starting also to add details to the cockpit. The first and most visible ones are the 2 big tubes for fuel. To make such I used 2 big wires and covered, when shaped, with adhesive bare metal foil. I also add the nets under the airscope in the front end,and painted theme in flat black. ...cool to know, the german sister of this car, done by AC-Schnitzer just won the 24 hours Rennen at the Nordschleife last week ! http://adac.24h-rennen.de/

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
and herw we go guys. Its BMW time again!
I am adding some details (wires and electronics) to the interior part, even if I wellknow when the model will be finished (IF it will ever be.. )very few of this work will be visible from windows, exactly as for the real car. The seat belts are done with tissue adhesive and then painted with acrilics lifecolor. I recognize now I've made a mistake, cause Piero Necchi drives this car with side protections on the driver seat. My one is the ordinary one..but that is. ..I still have to find (or build) a red fire exstinguer for the passenger side.

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24
To place the dashboard inside the cockpit was very difficult for me.There are absolutely no referring points, so everytime you have to open the 2 shells (top and down) and check the allignment with windows and roll cage.
Added now the big fire estinguer in the passenger side. I made the car as it appear in the 2009 Mugello race (too nice track in the nicest part of Italy..the REAL Italy..a must to see),so, as from pictures,I add a little map of the track over the dashboard. the side net was done using tissue glued little by little with vinyl glue.In pictures it seems very soft, and wanyway nearly always present during race. I dunno what is for, noted also all Nascar have it. Isnt maybe another protection for driver's head? It is also time to cut carefully the side windows and glue it little by little with kristal klear. The rear lights were rebuild and repainted, placing the white arrow of the e92 in the correct position.Tamiya trasparent red was used here. ..and then the GTR is coming to life. I closed the 2 main shells and took 2 pictures of the actual look. Sorry for the few light, but here is night and I just wanted to show u the work in progress.Tomorrow they say it will be a summerday, so I will take some pics in the natural light. BMW is coming
