anyone have success complaining to American Hyundai?
2002 Santa Fe....95,000 miles. All major service at the dealer (timing belt at 60k), tune-ups at my mechanic. Car died this week...lost power....dealer says computer tells em it needs new crank position sensor...$80+350 labor. Sensor not covered under 10/100k warranty.....Dealer opens up car...says sensor broke, took out balance belt which took out the timing belt which trashed the engine. When pressed, dealer says not sure what happened. It has been two days and dealer is waiting to hear back from Hyundai on approval for warranty replacement of whole engine.
I contend dealer does not know what really happened and if timing belt failed (if you replace timing belt at 60k, then it is specifically covered under 10/100k warranty). Grey area is if non-warranteed part takes out warranteed part? What to do? Dealer says HYUNDAI will say not covered. I can't find that in the fine print. Dealer says he is fighting for me and does not want me to contact American Hyundai. But I am w/o car now for four full days. Advice on what to do next? Thx, cos999 |

I think that I would let him know that if he does not have an answer by tomorrow at close, that I will be calling Hyundai American the next morning.

Re: anyone have success complaining to American Hyundai?
Update:
Car sat at dealer for a week. Then American Hyundai ok'd a new engine...well rebuilt...cost to me $0. No kidding. Two weeks w/o car but got rebuilt engine with new timing belt as well. Never did contact American Hyundai...dealer did what they said they would do. |
