Radio and hvac demons

1994 lesabre volume control on radio will turn volume up to high on its own and you can't adjust until it reaches max volume. I also just started experiencing the hvac system will adjust the temperature up and down on its own . I have powered the hvac off and it will turn back on by itself. I was thinking a ground issue and that maybe the radio and hvac operate off same ground?

Is this a vehicle that has controls on the steering wheel as well? If this is the case, which I've seen happen, the buttons on the steering wheel get corroded. Take off the face of it, and just unplug the controls (grey harness, the yellow is airbag, leave it alone). You may want to disconnect the battery, and wait 2 minutes, so the airbag is disengaged until you're all done.

Awwww.... that stinks. I have no wiring diagrams or photos to work with. So many vehicles I have worked on, it's hard to picture this setup. I suspect maybe spilling of fluids or collection of debris maybe making things stick on those buttons. You have to understand a ground or something "beyond" the control portion of your system can't be the culprit. It's like a remote control to your TV & if the control is constantly changing channels... you would not suspect the power or ground. It would be either the buttons on the remote or TV sticking.

Wd40 can clean and dry electrical connections...
or if you are wary going that route, you can post an image of what you're working with. Maybe I, or others can also chime in.
