Question Transmission problem?

Whenever I switch gears and sometimes whenever I accelerate from a stopped position my car makes an ominous *clink clink* noise. Any ideas on what this could be? I'm thinking it may be the torque converter but I am hoping that I am wrong.

Re: Transmission problem?

Any idea as to where its coming from? Clicking noises can be bad tie rods, wheel bearings and so on as well. Have you checked your fluid levels?

Re: Transmission problem?

All fluid levels are good, not sure where exactly it is coming from but I know it has been making that noise since I bought it back in May. My dad thinks it may be that the CV joints need to be greased. Like I said it only does it when shifting gears and whenever I gun the gas pedal from at a stopped position.

Re: Transmission problem?

I haven't known the torque converter to make noise when shifting as it only engages while in 3rd gear when traveling over 55+mph or so. Have someone get under the car while you shift thru the gears and see if you can locate the noise.

Re: Transmission problem?

might be a bad engine mount. either broken or loose. i broke ALL of them on a GM car (EXTREME abuse) and the motor jumped around inside the engine compartment like a rabbit on cocaine! once i found out what had happened, i called the junk yard. it was far to late for anything but a burial.
