Can front driver side seatbelt be adjusted?

I have read that the seatbelts on Nissans are guaranteed for a lifetime, but I am not wanting to argue and fight with any dealership in order to do this if I don't have to. My question is, can the seatbelt be adjusted to make it roll up proplerly or is this something that only the dealership can handle? My seatbelt to the driver's side of the car hangs loose when I exit the car/van. I'd like to adjust the roller to make it work properly if there is any way to do so on my own. Is this something that the dealership will give you grief about if you show up with an older Quest and want this issue taken care of? We have to have our cars inspected and I am not sure this will pass inspection if it does not rewind correctly. Anyone else dealt with this?

Re: Can front driver side seatbelt be adjusted?

Well, I have an appointment with the local Nissan dealership to look at the seatbelt and see if it is a warranty issue or not. I take it in tomorrow and will see what they tell me. I am hoping that they do the repair or replacement as needed and honor their lifetime warranty, even though this is a '99 Quest. The video on YouTube for tightening up the tensioner is probably something I'd only muck up and make it all worse, so we shall see what the dealership comes up with as to a fix.

Re: Can front driver side seatbelt be adjusted?

Went to the dealership today and was told they tried to get me a new seatbelt, but that there is a national back order on them presently. Not sure if they are being straight with me or not, but the claim I will be getting a call from Nissan when the part is available. While there they did their multi-point inspection and came up with about $3,000 bucks worth of projects they would like to do for me. The shop manager swore that the car really did look like it had been taken care of, but gave me a long list of things that they would be happy to do to make it better. I am not sure if the seatbelt issue will be resolved as a warranty issue or not. If not, I'll do the YouTube video fix for myself, as opposed to wasting money. I guess I really have a negative opinon of most dealership service departments when they try to push stuff on you that is not needed. Hope this works out, but it may take time if there really is a national backlog for the part, as I was told.
