NMRA/NMCA Auto-x shootout

Wake up people, where have you all been???

Why hasn't anybody posted anything?

You better be out racing... cause I have!

The other weekend I was out at the first annual NMRA/NMCA Auto-x shootout. Hosted in part with Hotchkis Suspension, and Baer Brakes.

These guys normally do drag race events, but since the Pro-Touring movement with muscle cars is getting bigger. More sponsors are getting on board with making old American cars turn and stop better, so they Teamed up with Hotchkis and Baer brakes to put on this event. Way fun.

Obviously the Auto-x is fun, but the Baer brake challenge is, well, a challenge! Object of the challenge is to go from a standing start, drive as fast as you can for a determined distance and get your car to stop in a very small box. If you hit the cones in the box, your run is void. Sounds simple, but knowing exactly where to brake and how fast your car can stop is big on the challenge factor.

Here are some photos from the event...

Pics of my car... thrashing the G8 till I can get my '71 Camaro RS running.

My friends cars...

This thing is cool, it's got a Corvette C4 chassis under it, and an LS3/T56 drive train. Handles, very very well.

Everybody else's cars...
