92 Park Avenue Alarm System

The alarm system goes off for no reason, mainly at night. I have disconnected the horns because the noise was waking up people. I read some old posts here where people say to cut the blue wire to the Trunk Tamper Switch to solve the problem. Not sure if this is correct, nor if it would work. Please, Advise. Thank you.

Re: 92 Park Avenue Alarm System

The question is, is it the horn or the alarm, that is the problem?

My guess would be the horn contacts in the Pad....can't remember if they are part of the SIR bag.....if they are, ouch....

One way to find out, is to remove the air bag, and disconnect the horn contact from the bag, and put the bag back in place..........this means driving without a horn, which can be dangerous....but if the horn no longer goes off, you have found the problem...

Thank you for your response. It is the whole alarm system because the lights flash on and off besides the horns blowing. Thanks again. dplookin

Re: 92 Park Avenue Alarm System

Ok, that is a horse of a different color if the lights are flashing also.....

Does your keyless fob have a panic button on it? If it does, remove the battery from the fob, or fobs if you have more than one.......if this prevents this from happening than you have a fob problem....

There are many inputs to the RAC module, that can trigger the alarm....you would have to isolate each leg one at a time to see which one is triggering the problem....

Re: 92 Park Avenue Alarm System

Tech II....Thanks for replying. I don't have a remote for the car. As soon as I can find the time, I need to locate the Remote Accessory Control Module and check for the correct wire. I have learned that there is a Blue wire that comes out of the RAC that feeds the Tamper units throughout the car. One thing I forgot to say is that it's not just the alarm that goes off. The AC blower fan also turns on when I start the car. This has happened a couple of times, and it seems like it is part of the problem. At first, I thought I had a bad Computer so I replaced it but found out it didn't solve the problem. Right now I'm fighting with a lot of other problems like my health and more. Not sure when I will get back to the car, maybe in a few days. Thank you very much for your input. I appreciate it. dplookin

Tech II......I believe that I set the Temp for the AC myself. The fan will decrease speed as needed automatically. Thanks, dplookin
