I've been a Burns fan for a long time now but with his actions of late it's almost embarassing to be a fan

Re: 2003 Rally Sanremo
Not a good start for Markko. He was 3 minutes late out of service for the first stage of the day because the car wouldn't start and subsequently got a 30 second penalty. Then, if I understand correctly, had to stop after passing time control to bolt down his his seat! And the best thing is, that he still finished 0.7 seconds in front of Loeb and both of them are miles ahead of anyone else

Re: Re: 2003 Rally Sanremo
All your Sanremo 2003 day 2 stages are belong to Markko!
He's 43 seconds behind Loeb going into the final day and its 4 stages. Loeb is very much on course for the win, while Markko is followed by Marcus, Carlos, and Gilles. And here's my theory on Burns's performance - maybe after announcing his plans for next year he just doesn't want to give Peugeot a good result? Though I'd think he wants that championship... And yesterday he didn't even bother to make up excuses, he admitted to having none and explained everything by saying that he's just slow. Go figure...

I despair of Burn's performance. For the championship leader to be over 5 minutes off the pace, despite having had no serious problems, makes a pretty poor statement of his abilities. I think he's completely lost his bottle, and is very likely remembering his accident from a couple of years ago. This rally could potentially lose him the title!
Oh well ..... go Markko!

Re: 2003 Rally Sanremo
Enough about Burns.
Anyway, seems like everybody (ok, no info on Pug, but everyone else) left the last service on dry tyres while it started raining for the penultimate stage and even heavier rain is predicted for the last stage! Could prove interesting.

Re: Re: 2003 Rally Sanremo
Burns is on totally dry, while Marcus and Gilles chose something else ... let's see what they can do! And it's pouring down, thunder and everyhting!!! So exciting! And the stages haven't even started yet!

Re: Re: Re: 2003 Rally Sanremo
Marcus apparently lost a wheel and retired from the rally on the last stage! Panizzi is flying though as he chose intermediates as opposed to cut slicks for Gronholm (who is out anyway). Burns, apparently, will get a point and will go on in the lead of the championship.
Panizzi has almost certainly overtaken Markko and I'm not sure Loeb is safe at all!

Marcus has the luck of Bruno Thiry lately.
Gilles could almost win this thing - incredible. |

Re: Re: Re: Re: 2003 Rally Sanremo
Panizzi passed Duval on the stage!!! He is 1.16 faster than Burns on the last stage with the top runners still to come.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 2003 Rally Sanremo
If Panizzi hadn't had to pass Duval on stage he might have pulled off an incredible victory, as it is Loeb is a deserved winner. Picked him as champion elect a few rounds ago, looking even stronger now.
Looks like Burns will get a point or two. So he'll still lead the championship - for another round. |

I haven't seen any footage af the sunday events, so I hope to catch some on Eurosport this evening. But other then that, the outcome is just great. Seb has launched himself in a good position to fight for the championship now, with another 2 tarmaccies to come.
Good bye Pug! |
