97 GMC Yukon - Clicking noise after engine startup.
Hello,
I own a 1997 GMC Yukon GT. In about the past 3 weeks when I start up the engine I hear a clicking noise that lasts for about 1-5 minutes. I asked one of my friends who is a mechanic and he said it has something to do with a valve that pumps oil into something and it does that because there is no oil in the part. I am kinda worried. Ive been driving this truck ever sence I got my drivers license and I have let it go over the years. I want to keep this truck forever and someday I hope to have it completely restored. If anybody can help me PLEASE let me know what you think it may be. Thank You -Ross |

Sounds like a bad lifter. The intake manifold has to come off to replace the lifters. Recommend replacing all of them at the same time.

Ross, does your oil pressure indicate normal? Your friend may be talking about the pressure relief valve in the oil pump. I just went through that in my Yukon, and there's a thread about it. I hope it's an easy fix either way. Best of luck.
