Re: How to Program the BMW key

I just purchased a 1997 540i for a private owner and the battery in the Key they had went bad and when the replaced it the programming must have been lost (sorry, I'm new to BMW's and the forum, so this may be a dumb question). I would like to reprogram the functions of the Key for the doors and what not as well as the special features for security as well by myslef if possible but maybe its not, I just don't want to pay the dealer $55 for 2 minutes of there time. Any and all help is appreciated.

Kind regards, Lynn Beardall lbeardal@iveracity.com

To be honest, I don't know if you can do this yourself, maybe it would just be best to pay the dealer and then at least you know that it's done properly. That's what I would have done.

Re: How to Program the BMW key

I totally agree with you. I've seen the dealer done it - just a few clicks for $60.00!, to me, don't ask for repeat service!
I'm in the same boat - need to program my key too!

Re: How to Program the BMW key

can someone email me how to program the key to an '04 BMW 325i. The car doesnt beep, the panic alarm doesnt go off if I hold the trunk button for even 20 seconds. The lights dont flash. I went to classic BMW the guy just told me that my car doesnt come with those options. My car has the premium package...thats really surprising if it doesnt have those options!
Please email saiyamvora13@gmail.com
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
