Mice make acorn stash in timing belt chamber, engine will not fire!

So my 2006 Mitsubishi Galant V6 would not start yesterday morning. The engine would crank and crank, but it would never fire.

I checked the fuel line going to the injectors and it is squirting fuel. I then looked at the timing belt. Turns out the timing belt chamber behind the plastic timing belt cover was full of acorns, a winter stash for some pesky field mice. The acorns ground up at the bottom of the timing belt chamber between the belt and the crankshaft, making a sticky mash that separated the crankshaft from the timing belt. So I took the timing belt off, cleaned all the teeth, then lined up my timing marks for the crankshaft and 2 camshafts. I tensioned the belt and tried to start the engine. It still would not start, crankshaft still turning, no firing though. I then replaced the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, still no firing.

Any ideas what could be causing the engine not to fire?

Thanks,
Matt
