'00 Malibu drivetrain noise

I have a 2000 Malibu with 124K miles that for about 4 months has developed a buzzing/growling noise in the drivetrain when driving. The noise changes with the wheel speed and gets loudest when steering left. I first suspected wheel bearings, so I replaced the right side but it didn't help. I just replaced both axles and still have the noise. I also just got new tires today (they were getting bald). Still no change in the noise. There is no evidence of transaxle leakage and it shifts very smoothly, so I have not checked the fluid level yet. Even with me doing my own work, this is getting expensive. Anyone got any ideas of what is wrong?

Re: '00 Malibu drivetrain noise

I can't remember if I swapped that or not. I know I pulled the hub out with the intention of putting the old right side one in it's place, since there was nothing wrong with it. I just can't recall if I carried out my stupid plan. Shoot. Lousy A.D.D.

It was the left hub bearing. I would be more upset about replacing all that other stuff if I wasn't giving this car to my daughter for college.
