I am still extremely skeptical of the idea there will be a V8 NSX. Especially with the possibility of an IMA NSX.

yah...i think Honda will work on the current V6 and tweak it with new technology first

it would be amazing if the NSX could make 120hp/L like the s2000 with it's 3.2L

I don't think that the V8 thing will ever happen, but if it did, i would think that i died and went to heaven. Just imagine some 5.0L V8 with 120hp/L!!!! 600 hp!! That would be the coollest thing ever. I love Hondas for how reliable they are. You can usually go out and buy a 10-15 year old Honda, and not have to worry about it, but when you buy a used car the car company doesn't profit from it. If this V8 ever came about, for Honda's sake, i would definately buy it new. Even if it costed over 130K, i would make sure that i do what it takes to obtain this car. Just thought i'd share how much this V8 stuff means to me.

but...u gotta think, with a motor that size, its VERY difficult to get 120hp per liter. much more difficult then from a smaller motor w/ a shorter stroke, which allows for higher rpm to create power w/. other companies around the world put out great power from v8's, an they have been at it for years an years (before honda even was invented) yet they don't do this, so i HIGHLY doubt honda will be able to create the amazing numbers like in the s2000. but hey...who knos...honda tweaked out variable timing to a whole new level, so maybe they can do the same w/ bigger displacement motors (i hope so )

Or...just implement some more F1 technology in it.

Those F1 engines make 800bhp+ w/ only 3.0L. Then again, fuel consumption....

If honda builds a v8, It better not be bigger then 4.2L. I don't like big engines. Even if muscle cars had some decent technology, I wouldn't stop hating them. I prefer a small, highly tuned engine. Look at F1, almost 900 N/A HP coming from a 3.5L V10 or V12.

3.0L
But there's an immense compression ratio, extremely high crank revolutions & the engines mostly last for only 1 race.

Well that was kind of an extreme example. The motors take a lot of wear and tear and the engines are completely rebuilt after each race but they'll last for more then 1 outing but I have no idea what the average F1 engine life span is.

What I heard Acura might do was make the NSX a hybrid. 400 ponies with the same 290 hp 3.2 and 110 hp Electric motors powering the front. That would be interesting.

I heard that too, except it was on a concept vehicle, the Honda / ACura DN-X;

I just looked at the DNX and I dont think I want that car, I just dont think i could trust the steering wheel sending signals to the wheels and having motors do it for me or my brake pedal send a signal and all that stuff. I like the wheel to do the work so i know its all hooked up and no electrical flaw can send me shooting into a ditch or my tires turning opposite each othere, or maybe the brakes just decide to lock up during hard cornering. I am sure honda can design things with no flaws like that but it wouold just sit in the back of my mind bothering me til i got back out of the car.

i agree about the v6.. i would like to see them techno the 6 first then attempt the 8 if need be.. if they were to get 120/l in the nsx 6.. it would be an amazing peice of work..i'd say charge it.. but that's just not right to have a honda factory charged.. not right at all..
