I don't think so Greg. A Webshots.com gallery was the original source of that photo and the girl's whose account it was shared by was Canadian and many of her other photos were from the Montreal area. She never responded to a message I sent asking about the F1 but I am still pretty certain it was Stroll's car. Unfortunately Webshots have decided to wipe their servers clean and try a different approach to photo storage after a recent change of ownership otherwise I'd link you to the evidence I mentioned.

Could this be #004?

Using Google translator, it mentioned something about a 1994 Middle East show.

Is this most likely #021?

From looking at pictures of #021 in 1994 in the Park lane showroom it seems to be #021 from what I know.

I would think #021 as well. New photos for me though, and I always love old stuff.

Re: The Official: "There's no such thing as a dumb question about the McLaren F1" thread

Ok heres a question that popped into my head during the week.

Did French team Larbre Competition ever race the McLaren F1 GTR? I vaguely remember reading that Mercedes actually brought their McLaren test car off Larbre but I cannot recall ever hearing of Larbre racing the car (well not under their banner anyway).

I am interested in finding old pictures of #016 from Car Graphic magazine to print.

If anyone could assist, I would greatly appreciate your contributions.

Thanks

I cannot recall Larbre Competition running a McLaren. They were very much into Porsches at the time, with the GT2 then GT1 in 1997.

I'd rather not say publicly given that there's already enough of a mess swirling around the sale of that one. When the dust settles one way or the other I can let you know.

Re: The Official: "There's no such thing as a dumb question about the McLaren F1" thread

Hi,

I have a few questions hopefully someone can answer:

1) The service centers - do they have permanent F1 techs, or do they fly in from Woking, when an F1 needs service?
2) What kind of testing is done by the techs after servicing? I've heard high speed testing, which would be easy enough at the airstrip near the factory, but what about the US?
3) Does anyone know the mileage of the GTR's converted for road use? Specially interested in 10R & 16R.

Thank you!

Re: The Official: "There's no such thing as a dumb question about the McLaren F1" thread

Another question, perhaps this is a little easier?
Does anyone know the (rough) mileage of XPGT?
Obsessed with mileages for some reason lately...

Re: The Official: "There's no such thing as a dumb question about the McLaren F1" thread

Can't help with the mileage questions - sorry about that. Our resident insider 'MSO' might have a figure for XPGT (not sure if he is allowed to share that sort of thing) but I'd imagine the best-guess answer would be 'not many'.

As for the other questions - yes, the service centers around the world have trained technicians on staff. I don't believe there is enough F1 work to keep them busy at all times though so they probably serve other roles in the organizations they work for. For something particularly difficult tasks they might fly in a factory tech. My understanding is that the service centers are capable of handling everything up to a fuel cell change (which includes engine removal) and beyond that the cars would generally need to travel to Woking.

As for road testing we have heard stories, including an unfortunate one with Ralph Lauren's F1 LM. In the USA at the West Coast service center I have been told they borrow the runway at a local airport for this work. It seems that after servicing there is a regimen of testing involved in the sign off procedure. If new tires are fitted to the car those get scrubbed in; new brakes fitted get bedded in as well. Basically a general systems check to ensure the cars are functioning at 100% before they are returned to their owner.
