Re: The truly great scan thread started by Sauc3
I happened across several articles available online. I'm not sure if any of these are new (everyone here is probably familiar with the EVO issue) but I didn't see them elsewhere in this thread. The EVO and Autocar content was found on a site called issuu. The Motorsport content was found in their online archive as images so I downloaded and converted those into PDF documents.
Hosted on issue: EVO (July 2010): Celebrating 20 Years Of The Mclaren F1From the Motorsport archive: Motorsport (July 1995): Woking Back To HappinessNon-F1 content (also from issuu): Autocar: Mclaren P1 - The Passion And People Behind Britain's New Hypercar Last edited by lilcraigford; 05-22-2016 at 08:39 PM. Re: The truly great scan thread started by Sauc3
I find it incredibly hard to believe the F1 can outcorner the likes of the 918 and so on.
As much as I absolutely love the F1, we know it isn't the best handling car around, that it was set up for the road so it's quite soft in comparison to a lot of supercars and it's also 20+ years older than the 918, LaF, P1 so surely it can't get anywhere near them? |

But in nurburgring soft suspension is preferred over stiffer one because it is too bumpy but I think LM may give a good fight for the hybrids around a track because of its huge downforce. |

Re: The truly great scan thread started by Sauc3
Well I figure it's about time to revive this thread with a couple tidbits I recently stumbled across:
XP4 in it's original NZ guise back in December of '94 and earlier. The first article was published in a December 1994 issue, meaning the photo was taken pre-December. The second article is of the event in question in December itself, published in the February issue. Sadly at the time neither full-colour pages nor photographic paper was commonly used, so sadly this is the best we'll get. That said, these pictures are clickable for slightly higher res. |

Very cool - travel lugs and what look like white-lettered Michelins fitted in that first photo.

Re: The truly great scan thread started by Sauc3
I found several scanned articles on the German Car Forum. Some of these have been posted before. The Auto Motor Und Sport article titled "Flügel-Stürmer" is definitely new to me, however. Flemke's McLaren F1 (chassis 040) gets compared to the MP4 12C Spider.
Auto Motor Und Sport, December 1994 - "Big Mac" (In German, apparently conducted alongside Autocar) Auto Motor Und Sport, July 2013 - "Flügel-Stürmer" (In German, can also be viewed on Auto Motor Und Sport’s website) EVO, January 2007 - “The Greatest Group Test Ever” EVO, September 2013 - “McLaren F1 vs Analogue Rivals” Road & Track, June 2007 - “McLaren F1 LM” |
