6Spd Missed Opportunity?
Picked up my new truck this past Sat., 05 KC SE 4x4 6sp. So far I'm pretty happy with the truck, but I find myself disappointed with the 6spd tranny.
Am I the only one who feels that the ratios are too close in this tranny? With the power of the new 4liter I find my self shifting 1,2,4,6 almost everytime, the first couple times I missed 4 and went right from 2nd to 6th. And the truck still pulled up to speed,I find that except for hills I can stay in 6th all the way down to 40 with no problems. I guess I had just assumed that with a 6spd they would use a real tall high OD gear to improve highway mileage, with the lower 5 gears for normal driving. |
