Re: Buying a new sports car. 10k-15k
I might take it up to a shop or something. I hate the hassle.

Think of it like you would get a home inspected before you bought it. Otherwise you're in your kitchen cooking some dinner and your stove falls through the floor - should have got an inspection...lol. OK it's a little far fetched, but having it checked out before the purchase is a little peace of mind on your investment.

I just don't want to go pay a few hundred dollars and not end up getting the car. My game plan is to drive 180 miles awaay to look at this s2000, if I don't get it, I'll get the bmw checked out. I think I'm going to keep the sentra and drive it on nasty days.

Also, while the BMW is a great car, you're mechanically safer with the S2000 - built like little tanks. Have fun with the sales experience, it should be an exciting time to park yourself in a sports car as such. Cheers. |

Re: Buying a new sports car. 10k-15k
The car, went we went to look at it, was dead. Thye guy said it was probably dead cause they haven't cranked it in a while. That they would have it ready to test tomorrow. Idk if to trust that, maybe it needs anew alternator. He said if it needed a new batery he he would put one in before he sold it.

Asking Shpuker for advice.... You might as well Google it yourself. now may an appropriate moment to remind newer members of this: . Anyway. From what I have read, the E39 540i isn't the best of the E39 cars. Estimates for maintanance costs range from less than $1000 to $2000 a year depending on service history (there were several recalls relating to the engine), existing condition and where you get things done.
