Careful if you own an 02-up Diesel and like to idle it....
You might have an hourly gauge on the truck, so even if you don't drive it and just like to idle it, the hourly gauge is still going......Where is it?? With your truck OFF, turn the key to the ON position. Push in the odometer/tripmeter button and hold it for about 15 seconds, maybe a little more or less (my 04 takes 8 seconds for it to switch to the hourly gauge). After that time, the hourly gauge will show up. Obviously, showing how many hours your truck has run since you owned it. DIESEL owners beware!! The dealers most likely check this when you bring it in for service. You might have only 10,000 miles on your truck, but if you have an astronomical amount of hours, say 200,000 hours, the dealer might question it. Or not cover something they normally should. I don't know, but that's what I'm guessing......We all know dealers........

Re: Careful if you own an 02-up Diesel and like to idle it....
My mistake - it works on gas engines too, not just diesels...My 04 1500 QC has the 5.7 and it works on that. and my Dad has an 02 4.7L and he has the gauge too, and my brother has an 04 4.7L and his has the gauge as well....

thats kinda crazy. would never guess there would be an hour usage meter on a car/truck.
