Re: looking for a car

Get a Grand National.

*ahem* Anyways, your best bet is probably the V6 Camaro with GM's good old 3800 Series II V6. I've never really liked the Mustang's V6 that much, so stick with the Chevy. If you don't mind buying Japanese, also take a look at the Nissan 300ZX (1990-1996). It's about as fast at the V6 Camaro, but the interior is much nicer and the handling is a bit better. It's more expensive though, about a few thousand more than a Camaro from the same year.

about as fast? how about it is faster. you can buy an early twin turbo from the early 90s for under 10,000 300 hp and your running with and faster than some emphasis on some of the v8's

Re: looking for a car

You'd be hard-pressed to find a decent coniditon twin-turbo for under $10,000, even from 1990. Also, I've heard from numerous people that the 1990 models had quite a few problems and that you should steer clear of them. The standard 300ZX from 1990-1996 made 222 hp and 198 torque, and weighed about 3200 lbs. The standard Camaro from 1996-2002 made 200 hp and 225 torque, and weighed about 3200 lbs as well. So, I'd say they perform about the same. Also, if you wanna compare the 300ZX twin turbo to the Camaro, compare it to the Z28, which costs and performs about the same. So it really comes down to what you'd rather have, a 300ZX or a Camaro. Both are very good buys.

Re: looking for a car

Well, I'd personally take the 300ZX NA over the Camaro, because I think the 300ZX is much more well-built and reliable, and it's also much more comfortable and ergonomical. But the Camaro V6 is not a bad car by any means, and it's a few grand cheaper than the 300ZX as well.

Re: looking for a car

If you wanna buy American, a 1996 or newer V6 Camaro is the way to go.

Re: looking for a car

This guy already said in another thread that he hates imports, so count out the 300ZX and 3000GT. The Mustang GT is a good car but the base V6 is a pretty bad engine. Stick with the 1996 and newer V6 Camaro and Firebird.
