Looking to purchase a 2012 Malibu with a semi concerning problem
Hey guys, I'l looking into purchasing a 2012 Malibu from a used car dealer at 67000 miles. The car seems great but the dealership told me it had level 1 oil seepage from the transmission, apparently there is no visible drop, but the area is damp. Now, they assured me that this was pretty common for a car of this many miles and is nothing to worry about, obviously I'm not taking a used car dealers word for it, I'd much rather have your opinion on it. Is it something that would be a dealbreaker for you? How much should this concern me?

To me that would at least warrant a drop in the price. I would look into that as much as possible. If dealer keeps trying to dodge the issue, walk away.

Tell them you want to take the car to a certified transmission shop for inspection. If they refuse, walk away.
