Turbo PSI Talk...

Ok guys im curious here, at what psi do the stock vr4s run at? I have heard you can tune these turbo systems to run at a different psi? So these stock turbos can run up to 15 psi safely? And in order to run the stock turbo system up to 15 psi what modifications would l need , or can i just tune these turbos straight to 15 psi? Also i have another question.... Can you hear the purge of the turbo when on the throttle with an exhaust installed? Also, can you install some sort of purge system to the turbo to hear that sweet sound while shifting?

Re: Turbo PSI Talk...

ok i can answer some..
first off i dont know about vr4 stock psi or anything about their limits..
for your other questions.. 1) the "purge sound" u are talking about on throttle is called turbo Spooling up. Or do u mean that Pssshhhtt sound? if so, thats the blow off valve. u can hear the turbo spooling sound better if: 1) your windows r down or 2) sun roof slide back 3)both
What the hell do u mean installing purge system? thats nos right there right? u want to hear the pssht while u shift gears? well u gota get to a good amount of rpm to hear that sound when shifting cause the higher rpm u get to and shift ... the louder it is.

Re: Turbo PSI Talk...

Well if u have turbo u need a bov (blow off valve) and intercooler and more parts. IF u have turbo why the hell r u running it without a bov? What car do u have ? a focus or a 3000gt? Well my suggestion is to get an aftermarket bov.. most likely a HKS, Greddy, XS, etc. Depends on what sound u want.

Re: Turbo PSI Talk...

Ok stock 91 to 93 is 9psi,and from 94 to 99 is 12psi. That is stock psi. You should not go over 12psi before u got Intake, Down-pipe. And defentily a Boost gauge because the stock one sucks. then you can go on 14psi. But you should not go over 14psi with out any bigger injectors, fuel pump, and a Air/fuel controller. If you go to 3si.org and click on Mods on the left and then click on STAGED PERFORMANCE UPGRADES.
If you want to get some sound you can go get the Turbo XS BOV that is the loudest you can get.
I heard that u should not go over 15psi with stock turbos.

Re: Turbo PSI Talk...

You can go to www.mvpmotorsports.com , 3sxperformance.com and some other websites for performance parts. I am ordering mine from a local store and My car is a 97 vr4, I am getttin a Act Heavy duty street clutch, intake, TopSpeed Down-pipe, Turbo XS boost controller, Boost Gauge, Boost Pod, Turbo XS BOV, and also gutted out my Pre-Cats. That should be little over 400hp I hope.

This is why we have an FAQ. Prior to purchasing mods in the dark...save your money for a bit, and read the FAQ, so you know what you are doing...otherwise you inevitably will run into problems and waste money...

If you have enough money buy a good blow off vavle and drag exhaust system ..

Don't buy any exhaust with bad specifications ..

A big single muffler is good for performance because the gases of the engine will get out faster than if it's subordinated ..

Wanna see Examples ?

That one made for performance

it does weigh 4.5 kilogram while this one is made for the show and the performance . It weighs 12kg

I see a lot of owner of 3si buying a dual exhaust systems !

I don't know why but I think it's probably the price ..
